Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My elderly father is dying and his girlfriend is trying to keep me from having any knowledge about his condition. I am his only child and next of kin. They are not married. She did get him to sign a document allowing her to make medical decisions for him through a local hospice agency so she is his "health care advocate". What are my rights to have access to his information and contact with the individuals who are treating him? He has verbally told the hospital and hospice that I have permission to be given information about his medical status. The hospice does not return my phone calls nor do they acknowledge my concerns that his elderly girlfriend is unable to adequately take care of my father. I don't want my father to pass away and I won't even know it. She will not tell us anything, Please, I ask as a daughter help!

Get an attonrey and go to your father and have him give you power of attonrey over him. Also see if he has a will. As long as he is not incapacitated, he can sign these docs to you. Sounds like to me the old girl is doing a little undue influence and she may have gotten him to change his will.

that's why she doesn't want you to know anything.
