Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Emancipation assistance against an unwilling mother.
Before I explain my situation, I would first like to sincerely thank whomever is reading this, and strongly profess my gratitude. Any advice/assistant will be much appreciated.
I live in Pinellas County, FL, and am the child of a widowed mother of two. My mother has been with a man since I was 4 ( I am now 16), right after my father died, but they are not married. He forces me to call him dad, and is quite bi-polar, and even more unwilling to go get tests done on himself to confirm as much.
My entire life in this household has been one big struggle. I only have so much room to explain myself, so I'll synchronize this. My 'step-father' is a very controlling man, who has told me on several occasions he enjoys controlling my life. He is overly controlling and domineering, to an abusive extent. My mom drinks daily, and now sides with him just so he doesn't get mad at her. I can't go into all of the details, but please know that when I say it's bad, it's bad.
I need to get emancipated soon. I am not just some obnoxious teenager rebelling.
I am responsible and intelligent.
Any advice at all is much appreciated. I would like to know how to get a cheap lawyer, how long I need to have held a job, and anything else that would help.

Re: Emancipation assistance against an unwilling mother.
I sympathize with your situation, but the simple truth is that Florida law forbids you from being emancipated without your mother's permission.
The better idea might be for you to report what's happening to your school counselor and DCF.
