Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Ending/Stopping Child support

My sons mother is receiving food stamps from the state. Her daughters father is on child support. The state is trying to place me on child support even though she has told them that I am contributing my part and very active in my sons life. This is being done administratively. May I file a motion in family court to vacate the child support order if she stands with me and tell the judge I am financially supporting my son?

Re: Ending/Stopping Child support

You could file it, but unless you and the mother are living together, you are required to pay child support. The idea is that if you were paying enough child support, we taxpayers wouldn't be paying for her food stamps.

I'm not saying it's true, I'm just saying that's the idea.
