Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Here goes. I was engaged to someone for 2 1/2 years. He broke the engagement off in Nov. 2009 and since then, my life has been "living hell." He threatens me on his company time (works for the City of Delray Beach) and two weeks ago, placed a phony restraining order which was immediately dismissed.

He still has my belongings, but won't return unless he is given back the engagement ring. He is in $300,000 + in debt and is having problems paying his mortgage. He owes me over $5,000.00.

Is this worth going into litgation for?

It depends on how much the ring is worth. He is entitled to return of the ring. If you can prove he owes you 5K, then that debt may be offset by the value of the ring. If he sues you for the ring, you can countersue for 5K; if you sue for 5K, he can countersue for return of or the value of the ring.

Probably not. He is entitled to the ring back. Find a time to exchange it for the property he has and be done with him.
