engagement ending

I recent ended an engagement and she does not want to return the very exspencive ring I bought. Does she have lgal right to the ring since we did not get married?

Since given in contempaltion of marriage ,it should be returned.

A engagement ring is a gift that is given in contemplation of the parties becoming married. Generally, the courts in Florida have held that if the female ends the engagement, she is required to return the ring. If the male ends the engagement, he generally does not get the ring back unless the female voluntarily gives it back.
