Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Estate Settlement

My deceased mom directly distributed her investments to me. Would my husband be entitled to any of it since it was directly distributed to me? With the settlement of her estate, I was also given cash which I used to pay off the previous home. If I can prove how much I used of this inheritance to pay off the previous home, can I deduct this amount from the divorce settlement? My daugher really wants to stay in this home, but her dad is threatening to file bankruptcy & ruin me financially so that my daughter & I cannot own a home. What if our divorce goes through prior to him filing bankruptcy? Will this still ruin me financially? What should I do?

Re: Estate Settlement

An inheritance is not part of of the marital estate and you should receive a credit if you used the funds to pay for the house.
