Am awaiting the hearing date re: Petition to Modify Custody in Hillsborough County, Florida. Can I file for Contempt even though I have also filed the Petition to Modify and the hearing date is set?

Yes and you can try to have them set together or have two hearings, either way. Ask the judge's office what they want you to do.
