Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Family law

Me and My son's father split up nearly a year ago, i have been taking car of my son full time by myself, only recently has my sons father started paying daycare costs ($80 a week) he see's him when its convient for him and keeps making excuse's not to see him. I would like to know if i can legally change my sons last name to mine (hes 2.5) without his father's consent and if i must take him to court what i would be looking at child support wise vs. just getting his perental rights terminated.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

There is a lot more to this but these are my main concern's.
