is there a statute for how long a dissolution of marriage can be recorded before it is served on the other party?

You must serve the divorce papers on the other party within 120 days of filing the divorce or it will probably be dismissed. You are allowed to ask the judge for an extension so long as you ask for the extension before the 120 days is up.
