Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I need to file for a parenting plan and I live in Sarasota County FL and my ex lives 7 hours away in Okaloosa County FL. Child support was originally established through Okaloosa county about 5 years ago and no custody agreement was established. Can I file the parenting plan where I live or do I have to do it up there? Do I need a lawyer here and there?

You have to file it where the case is pending. If you case is closed--which is what it sounds like--you have to file a petition to establish parenting plan in the county where the case used to be pending, file the parenting plan, and file an order approving parenting plan (and send it to the judge). There is a $50 fee to the clerk to do this.
