Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I'm self filing for custody and would like to know the best way to handle WHEREABOUTS UNKN for the Father. We never married and he walked out prior to the birth while living in NY. I moved to Florida to be near family.

"Self-filing for custody" is always a bad idea since there are a lot of ways to screw this up. If the father's whereabouts are unknown, you'll have to serve him by publication. It's much easier if you get a lawyer to help you.

Very rarely is a father's whereabouts unknown - after all there are family members, mutual friends - people really do not just disappear as on TV. Get an attorney - anything you are dealing with issues concerning a child, you need an attorney.
