Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Final Judgement 1999
My wife has filed for a divorce and I have responded. We are now waiting for a hearing date. We recieved a final judgement for child support and visitation in 1999. In 2000 we were married. When we seperated in 2002 she went back after child support. They went back to the same case number that the final judgement was ordered on. Since they are using the same case number for child support is the final judgement ordered in 1999 still in affect?

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
I believe that this question - or some variation of it, was asked several weeks ago. The earlier judgment is probably still in effect and will be until it is modified. Certainly circumstances have changed since 1999 with incomes most likely higher, as well as expenses. The court will probably review all financial aspects of the parties and render a new decision.
