I need help getting a lawyer to take payments! My son's father is seeking full custody of our son,who has always lived with me.He has retained a lawyer already and is saying I don't let him see his son,and I use him as a pawn.It is all lies and I can back it all up.He se's him 3 times a wek(one of those times he spends the night with him)I don't know who could help me in this case because I don't have $3,500 to retain a lawyer. My ex and I were never married, but were together for 7 years.I am 30 now,and he is 28.I feel the only reason he is asking for this is because hewishes to not have to pay child support, and hs new girlfriend would like to have me totally out of the picture. They have only been together for 7 months and don't have the most stable relaionshp, she's a alcoholic, and he has a rap sheet that goes on and on,he served 2-1/2 years in prison for throwing a bottle at my car when I was pregnant driving away from him cause he was drunk, plus several major drug charges. He has been baker acted for drug overdose, and has been abussive to me as well.I cannot let my son be living in a enviroment where I don't know what will happen next.I have police reports stating most of his episodes. Please help me!!!

If you cannot afford an attorney, you should visit the local Legal Aid office or the local county bar association. Legal Aid may be able to represent you for no charge if you qualify financially. Alternatively, many bar association's have a low cost referral service and/or a pro bono program. Investigate these potential opportunities to seek assistance.
