Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Florida divorce law/property

I live in Florida. I have been married 15 years. I owned my own house before I met and married my husband. After we were married, I sold my home and property, and I also received a $25,000 settlement for a workers comp injury. I used the money from the sale of my previous home and the settlement to buy a new home and property with my husband (which I put in both of our names). If we now get divorced, is he entitled to half of the value of the home, plus everything I have put into it ($35,000 worth of improvements) out of my money, or is it mine, since it was all purchased with my money?

Re: Florida divorce law/property

The base presumption is half. You can claim a special equity for the extra money you contributed to the marriage. This can get complicated so you should contact a Florida Family law attorney.
