Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Florida keeping child support...

Thank you, Mr Rose. I was told at the hearing back in Jan that the state would be keeping 15oo of the 5k from the back child support. I agreed to that, and was told not to worry, that the state would take their money at the end of the payout. Also, they told me that the ncp would have to pay the interest. They said nothing about keeping the current child support. Now, I will admit that I did receive public assistance for March and April, the payments totaling $553 for both months. Like I said in my original post, I don't have a problem with them taking that 553 out of the payments he has made. When I went to the local CSE office, I was informed that I would not get ANY of those two months' payments. I don't think that is fair. the total of those payments is 1700. What I want, and what I believe is fair, is for them to give me the 1700-553, which would be 1147. Am I incorrect?

Sounds right, but remember that the State is entitled to attorneys' fees as well.

By the way, you are still owed your money, even if the State is right about how much they are taking. You'll just have to get it out of your ex somehow. Florida should be helping you do that.
