Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am in Florida and retained a attorney in a custody case. The attorney is holding my entire file I submitted to him in lieu of payment. Is this legal?

Yes. In Florida the file is not the property of the client. It is the property of the attorney.

Yes, the attorney may keep the file, not even allowing you copies, until the bill is paid in full. You are not even entitled to your originals.
