Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My friend wants to divorce her husband who abandoned the family and went back to Africa. Obviously he cannot sign for an uncontested divorce; what is the first step? Can she file in absentia? We live in Florida.

YOu file for a divorce just like anyone else. Serving the person is the issue. YOu will need to publish in this county and you will need to contact the embassy in the area he went to and see what their rules are for serving this person.

Florida has a procedure for this called "Service by Publication" It is complicated and slow and may be expensive. I would not recommend attempting without an experienced attorney handling.
