Re: i need help

She would be better trying to get immediate help in Ohio. She should be able to go to a shelter for domestic violence up there; make a police report and get an injunction to protect her from the abuse. Most shelters allow her to take her kids. She could do the same thing in Florida, but she would have to be able to get here safely.

Re: i need help

The laws DO protect people in this type of situation. However, the law cannot guess what's going on in every household. Unless your friend seeks help, how are the authorities supposed to know?

She needs to contact the police, the DA's office, and/or the equivalent of our DCF. Of course, all of the above charges have to be provable.

I wish her good luck.

Around the country there a safe houses for battered spouses. Your friend needs to take action as suggested by Ms. Oatley to protect herself and her children, otherwise no one will know what happened.
