Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
if you gave a child away at birth, signed all papers stating you never wanted anything to do with the child. Then 24 years later an investigation firm contacts you stating the adopted mother is going to tell the child the birth mothers name and addresss against the birth mothers wishes. The child knows it is adopted. The mother was raped and never wanted to see it or have anything to do with it. Stated she would have aborted it if she knew this would have come up now. How does she stop the child from finding out who she is? If need be she will move to another state. but she should n't have to. The adopted mother sent a note requesting medical info 10 years ago and the bio mother gave it to her but told her if she was contacted again she would consult an attorney. help

Why would this firm contact you? Is it for the child's medical needs? Is it for inheretance purposes (which are usually irrelevant once the adoption occurs)? Is it because the adoptive mother just "has to tell"? Does your child have some need to to learn? Anyway, we live in an information-rich world, and no law currently prevents anyone from telling an adoptee who the biological parents are. And it doesn't create in you any legal obligation. I wish you the best with this, and I hope it all turns out well for you and the child.
