gay marriage

Don't gays have alternative ways to deal with the main issues that they complain of? Limited power of attorney, wills, and such?

Re: gay marriage

As pertains to the state(s), there are certain legal documents that may cover certain issues--but not all, and nothing is iron-clad to protect the survivor in a relationship from a challenge by a blood relative over provisions of a will. We should also not forget the federal rights pertaining to marriage, employment, tax benefits, and housing for which there are no "alternative" remedies.

It depends on what you mean by "main issues." A gay person can issue a power of attorney to another or leave property to another in a will, but I don't think those remedies cover the "main issues" they complain of.
