Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

General Magistrate vs Judge

I have been divorced for four years, and have been battling child support and visitation for the past 3 years. Recently the judge that has been on the case referred our case to a General Magistrate. My exwife has asked for more child support, and for it to be retroactive for two years. She got her wishes. She claimed to have paid health insurance and daycare, which she did not. Is there a benefit to have the case in front of a GM? What are things I need to be aware of?

Re: General Magistrate vs Judge

Usually, you can get your case to trial a little quicker with a magistrate. Plus, you have the opportunity to appeal you case back to the judge if you disagree with the magistrate.
