Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My girlfriend went through a divorce in October. She has sole custody and he has no visitation rights to the child. She got that due to her attorney putting in the divorce papers that The ex-husband has a mental illness where he has threatened to commit suicide twice. His anger has affected him so much that when I first started dating my girlfriend he called her a whore to the 3 year old boy. In that same conversation he threatened to drive his truck over my girlfriend and me.

He didn't even show up to court for the proceedings and she got everything she was asking for including sole custody, back support, and child support. He is now taking her back to court for lower child support and attempting to change the current custody. He has constantly tried to upset her by starting fights in text messages and giving her attitude. I know I have very little rights as far as putting my foot in the situation, but would the text messaging with his attitude and starting fights be considered harassment, especially when we have asked him to stop many times on numerous occasions? Is there anything I can do about it?

In her marriage she was intimidated and screamed at when anything went wrong in his life so she is a bit scared of him and worried she will just get laughed at by the police.

Why would she think the police would laugh at domestic violence? I don't know exactly what the text messages say, but both of you should consult a lawyer about getting injunctions (restraining orders) against him. This should also be reported to the police.

This is considered a form of domestic abuse - please have her file an injunction immediately before he does do harm to her and the child - not to mention you.
