Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My girlfriend owes back child support, but has recently been laid off from work, and is unable to pay at this time. She has tried and tried to find a job, but at this time, nobody is hiring. She has court date this month, and is afraid that she will goto jail. Is there a Florida law that protects her at this time?

I think her best bet at this point is to file a Petition for Downward Modification of Arrearage Payments to at least lower her monthly payments owed. She needs to file something immediately to avoid driver's license suspension, etc.
