Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My girlfriend and I split after being together 7 years. We were never legally married. The past 5 years we had lived together in a house outside of town that was in both of our names. The mortgage was in both of our names and the monthly bill for those 5 years was paid out of our joint account. I have moved out and she plans to stay in the house for now. I am not asking for my half of the equity if and when the house is sold I would merely like my what I paid towards the mortgage each month for those 5 years. Our mortgage was around $2100 a month, so conservatively, I would ask for $60000 once the house is sold or ask her to refinance the house in her name and only and get perhaps a loan to give me the 60000 essentially buying me out. I'd rather do this now as opposed to waiting for the house to be sold down the road at an unknown time and then try and work it out. I'm assuming at that point I would be needed to sign something since my name is listed on the house along with hers.

Thank you.

Mr. Elliott

You will not get what you paid in. AFter all you lived there too! I suggest you figure out the equity in the house and split it minus the maintenance and upkeep contributed by the other person.
