how can i give my parents temporary custody of my daughter for at least 6 months to a year?

There isn't anything special you need to do. You have the right to give temporary custody to whomever you want. It's wise to give them a power of attorney for medical and school purposes. You can get help with that from a local family law attorney. Also, if you aren't married, you'll want the consent of the other parent, since many times actions like these can lead to claims of "parental abandonment" and custody battles.
