Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Giving up parental rights

My girlfriend and I split up, never married. I'm a convicted felon and she wants me to give up my parental rights, which I'm willing to do cause I have no interest in raising a kid. How can I legally give up my parental rights of my 4 year old son so only his mother can raise him? Can't I just write something up, notorize it and file it with the courthouse? His grandmother is willing to adopt him if necessary, she's my girlfriends mom.

Re: Giving up parental rights

You probably can't give up your parental rights, since if you give up your parental rights, the child will be left without a father. If she remarries and her new husband agrees to adopt, you will probably be able to give up your parental rights.

You certainly can't give up your rights by just writing something up. You're a father. Start being a dad.
