Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Grandparent adoption
My husband and I have been caring for our 3-year-old grandchild since she was born. Her mother, our daughter, is in her life; however, she has been in and out of drug rehab. My daughter now wants my husband and me to adopt our grandchild, which we want also. The father of the child is a registered sex offender, crack addict, felon, and beat my daughter. He left town before the baby was born and she has heard nothing from him since. I know legally, attempt has to be made to notify him, what if no one knows where he is?

Re: Grandparent adoption
You can do "constructive service". Adoptions are tricky business and I would strongly suggest you get a lawyer. Most Judges are very strict on these types of actions and without the proper guidance you will not get the adoption finalized.
