Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Grandparent Visitation

My daughter's father recently shook and killed his infant son (he's not my child) now the grandparents are trying to receive visitation, I have been more than willing to facilitate unsupervised visitation but that doesn't seem to be good enough. How can I keep them from receiving visitation (in Florida) that is not supervised. The grandmother seems to have an unnatural bond to my daughter, and I have reason to fear that in their home my daughter would be subjected to physical or sexual abuse, as well as abduction by the grandparents. In the state of Florida grandparent rights are viewed as unconstitutional, unless it's in the best interest of the child, I really don't see how it's for the best interest of my 2 year old, who never mentions them. How can I stop this?

Re: Grandparent Visitation

I do not see this visitation as being in the best interest of your child. Is there an order in place giving them visitation, or are requests and threats coming from the grandparents? My recommendation is that you contact a qualified attorney who practices in the area of child custody. More information is needed for me to give you sound advice.

However, considering the saftey of your child, please seek advice concerning the parental rights of her father being terminated.
