Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Need a great lawyer (family) in Tallahassee Florida.

I'll try to make this short.

Husband has 2 children 33 & 32 yrs old with ex-wife who he has been paying child support for. She lived in Florida, he lived in Maryland after divorce...So all transactions went through Maryland. Now residing in New Jersey.

In 1996 when children were 18...he received a letter saying he owed little over $30,000.00 in arrears. Now they are saying in 2010 he still owes over $30,000.00.

His pay has been garnished for many years sent to Maryland Child Support office, hasnt received a tax refund in years Florida took the refund check. Something is wrong.

In 2009 received a letter from Child Support in Maryland that his case was closed paid in full.

Received letter today 11/5/2010 from Florida that he has to pay $258.00 bi-weekly for arrears. How is this possible?? Where did the money go all those years?

We need to get a lawyer to get to the bottom of this, has been going on for 30 yrs. Enough is enough.

Hopefully there is a lawyer who can help us get answers. Thank you for you time.

Carolyn Jones Law Office of Carolyn R. Jones

Not sure why your looking for an attorney in Tallahassee. Any Florida attorney can help you. First your attorney would need to talk with the Office of Counsel for the Department of Revenue. You cannot talk to them they generally only talk with attorneys. Secondly they will ask for copies of the documents from Maryland and letter of representation from your retained counsel. You will also need to provide copies of all the Florida documents to your lawyer as he will need them as well. Once you retain counsel to help you correct the disconnect between you and the Department of Revenue the matter should be settled rather quickly. If you need further assistance please feel free to call me at 904-790-3611.
