Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Health Insurance Benefits after divorce

My husband and I have lived apart for 8 years. He has told me that he wants a divorce. I don't care about the divorce, but I could not afford health care without his health insurance benefits as his wife through his job. Can I keep them as terms of the divorce?

Re: Health Insurance Benefits after divorce

No, the law forbids you remaining on his health insurance. However, you are entitled to COBRA, and you may even be entitled to alimony from him to cover the COBRA payments or cover the cost of another private policy.
