Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Hearing for custody from hrs

We keep having to go to court for a hearing on the custody of my sisters 2 children. She was killed in a car accident and the father is a convicted child abuser. He is trying his best to get the children. Anyway at the hearing today him nor his attorney showed up. The judge order a statues hearing in 2 days. What is a statues hearing?

Re: Hearing for custody from hrs

You are to be commended for getting this far in the system without the assistance of an attorney. However I believe you are going to get what you have paid for; if you expect custody of the child I would STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to retain an attorney who practices in that area of the law. The hearing is a Status Conference.
