Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have a hearing before general magistrate in Hillsborough County in a child support issue. motion for contempt/ enforcement, violation of court order. i have not paid since December of 08 because I have been unemployed. My question is I owe $3704.00 . I am about to get a descent job I believe and I don't want to get charged with and thrown in jail. I heard about a purge bond and what would the amount be and what advise can you give me.

The purge amount is the amount you have to pay to stay out of jail. The amount is up to the judge. If you owe $3,704, at least you know it won't be more than that. Better yet, show the magistrate proof that you have the new job and that you are willing to make your child support payments out of your check--along with 10-20% extra payments on the back support--and jail probably won't be an issue.
