Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Hello,

I have been Divorced almost 3 yrs now, in settlement I was awarded 50% of an Apartment building that was to be put up for sale. He put it for sale with a company he is friends with and it has not sold yet, but i feel he isn't really trying very hard to sell it. I recently asked him about it as I always do, and now he has told me something about my never paying my share of taxes and such. The thing is he has never given any share of money that the building has produced , he's always saying that between empty apartments and evictions he breaks even paying it off . I just do not understand how I am responsible if he was ordered to sell it , and he refuses to show me anything on it even though I have been more than patient and understanding - when I spoke to him he almost threatened that he doesnt have to show me anything and will start charging me all the bills and taxes for the place if I continue with it - where do I stand legally with this please and what steps should i take?

Thank you

Em

If he was ordered by the court to sell, then file a contempt against him, set a hearing and have him served. Also serve him with a subpoena duces tecum - production of documents and then list what you want to see and have him produce prior to hearing or at hearing.

Without reading the agreement and obtaining all the facts, no one can answer properly. Invest in a consultation with a local attorney.
