Hello,

I own a house in a South American country and am about to get married. Would my house become my future wife's house (meaning property rights and so on) even if the house is located in a different country?

If you make sure to keep the property totally separate, then should you have a divorce you can always argue the property is nonmarital. However, if the property is improved by marital funds and maintained using marital funds then she could be entitled to half of the increase in value of this property should it go up in value during the term of the marriage.
