Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am currently housing my best friends 13 year old son, after many fights and physical altercationswith custodial mother. His custodial father has stage 4 cancer and can not take care of him. After another argument accrued over the weekend we decided that it would be best if he continued to stay with me on a more permanet basis. She wants to give me legal guardianship of him. How do I go about doing so or what is the best route for me to take? He has been staying with me for over a year.

This can be an inexpensive process if you hire an attorney since there will be consent to the petition.
