husband bad reputation,custody battle

i married 6 yrs ago to a person his family had bad repution i did not know that when i married him ,we been seperated for 5 yrs now in custody battle wants to take my son from me ,i know he use drugs and his family have a criminal background what is my option and hes ask the court for a mental evalution on me ,and my son been with me from birth ,father was not there for him till now .can i ask the court for a full drug test on him ,can i sue him for damage reputation does it help with my custody case. he damage my name in our family circle and friends .i'm worry about my son if the court give him the custody.he was married several times has kids and child support payments can not keep,11 times been arrested for dui and fraud fellony and so on !
