Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My husband has a child with his ex, at one time he had an attorney to fight for joint custody of the child. The lawyer dropped the case, never giving us a court date or any information. The mother of the child got married and moved away without contacting my husband to let him know. Thus taking his daughter from his life for the last 8 years. In recent contact with the mother she revealed that we missed a court date that my husband was entitled to pay child support. We have not recieved any paperwork or court documents. Is my husband still liable for paying child support on a child that was snatched out of his life and until the past week had no idea where she was? We live in Okaloosa County Florida. The mother and child lives in Tennessee. The child was born and court was started in Okaloosa County.

If there is an Order by the court for child support, then yes he is to pay. I suggest you get an attorney and find out what happened in this case. She may have lied to the court and told them she did not know where he was. Was he married to this woman and is his name on the birth certificate?
