my husband and i have been living in separate state i live in florida and he lives in New York, he is filing for a divorce what is the difference between the laws in fl and ny

You'll either have to find a lawyer who practices divorce law in both Florida and New York (almost impossible to find), or schedule a consultation with a lawyer in each state, then compare for yourself. We lawyers tend to only practice in one state at a time, especially when it comes to divorce lawyers.

NY has no jurisdiction over you and if he files in NY is will not be legal unless you consent. Don't know the difference in the laws but if you both have nothing to divide and no children - have at it.
