Of course you can file for divorce, and ask for alimony. But don't be upset when you are not awarded alimony.
Cheating by itself is not a basis for alimony. It is based upon need and ability to pay. Contact my office for free consultation 727-446-7659.
Three years would not be considered a marriage of long duration. However, if you gave up your job or stopped your education, you could in fact get something along the line of rehabilitation alimony - it would be short term of course but would help. If I can be of assistance, please contact my office for an appointment. 904-997-1031
Alimony is based primarily on need (yours) and ability to pay (his). The length of the marriage is also an important factor especially in terms of the type of alimony that can be awarded.
You need to sit with an attorney who can review the specific facts of your case, including your income and financial situation, your current lifestyle, the assets and debts available to you and your spouse and other case specific information to determine the best course of action for your divorce.
