Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My husband was married for 39 years, and his wife left him. He has been paying alimony to her for 6 years but now she started to get half of his SS, which makes even more than the alimony sum.

Why does he have to pay alimony now, if his ex lives with her daughter's family, does not pay for anything and gets SS from my husband?

Asap, I suggest retaining counsel to file a Motion To Terminate Alimony. If the ex is living with someone that is assisting her financially, then per Florida Statutes, that may give cause to terminate the obligation.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.

If your situation falls within the Greater Tampa Bay area, I would be happy to schedule you for a no obligation half hour office consultation. The main office is in Dunedin, with a satellite location in Tampa.
