Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My husband passed away Nov. 27th 2010 he receives a pension from GM Motor Co. and a canadian government check from the government. How long do I have to contact them about his death? He was not a US citizen but I am. I did spend Dec. monies but not sure if I should spend Jan. monies. What would your advice be?

Do not spend the money and notify them immediately; you should have already done so. Otherwise it may be considered a fraud. There may be some survivor's benefits that you may be entiteld to and you will only be aware of such when you notify the Canadian government and GM.
