Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

if my husband and I are not requesting child support from each other, splitting everything 50/50, how do we file the child support papers. I tried to use N/A on these papers and was told not able to.

Hire an attorney. That is why when it comes to children, one should not try to represent themselves.

Unfortunately, Florida law does not permit child support to be waived. That's why you were told not to put N/A under the section on child support. If the guidelines say that one person has to pay the other child support, and that's what has to happen. Of course, nothing prevents that person from giving the money back, but the law says that the guidelines must be followed. It sounds stupid, but remember, the money belongs to the child or children, not the parent. Also, just an extra word of advice, if timeshare with the kids is being split 50/50, there is an extra section on the guidelines called the "grosse up." The extra section (page three) causes child support to be reduced or, in many cases and maybe yours, eliminated for timeshare which is equal or nearly equal.
