Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My husband and I are currently separated, but before I could proceed with the divorce, we had to first file for Bankruptcy. Can I still move forward with the divorce even though we are awaiting the filing of the Bankruptcy? Would I be able to once we have a Claim number for the Bankruptcy?

To file bankruptcy together, thus saving money on court costs and attorney's fees, you should file the bankruptcy before the divorce judgment is signed by the judge. After the bankruptcy is filed, you can get your divorce judgment. There are some exceptions to the rule though, such as when you switch chapters of bankruptcy in the middle of a bankruptcy case. Your bankruptcy lawyer can advise you. You do have a bankruptcy lawyer, don't you?
