Child support payment can be terminated by a judge if the child on which the person is paying support comes to live with them. You don't have to pay support on a child who is living with you, but a judge or hearing officer has to order the change.

Any jail time is determined by the Judge, each judge has their own criteria. Some are more strict than others. If what he has told the daughter is causing her harm the Judge may sanction him.
