Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
income reduction order for child support
I became disabled August 24, 2005. Social security checks come for me and my son. I have joint custody, with each party responsible for 1/2 of medical dental etc. In the divorce I was to pay $200. a month child support. Now that I am disabled my ex-wife is trying to get the social security check from me that is for my son. Her household shows $72000. income from her spouse and her. I on the other hand am only getting ss for $1340. and a check of $220 for my son. Can the court order the check to be sent directly to her instead of me?

Re: income reduction order for child support
It sounds like your son is receiving Supplemental Security Income because you are disabled. If this is the case, the child's primary residential custodian is entitled to receive the checks and use the money for the child's support.
