Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
An investment fund
My ex and I divorced 6 years ago. I had investments that were awarded to me, she in turn kept her investment. This is all stated in the Divorce Decree. She has since remarried and so have I. She sold the marital home and moved, the investment statement has been going to her new home; I had forgotten all about it, until I received a letter from her attorney, she wants half. Am I under obligation to share this with her, it was not mentioned in the divorce decree. Thank you

Re: An investment fund
NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
If this is the investment that was awarded to you, then you are under no obligation to give her any part of them. The divorce decree determines the ownership of the assets. If it was not included, then it may be open for negotiation.
