Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Joint custody-- Help please...

Iam a father of 2 children ages 1 an 2. I recently seperated from their mother. She has filed for child support even though I took care of my kids and now is trying to take me out of the picture. What can I do in order to file for Joint custody???

You will need to petition the court.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

You will need to respond to her petition and state your reasons why you disagree with her requested relief. You should also file a counterpetition asking that you be designated as the primary residential parent or for joint custody although the courts generally reason that kids should not be juggled back and forth and must have one primary residence.

There is a lot riding on this matter. You should retain qualified counsel to work with you in order to obtain the best possible result.
