Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Joint Personal Property

While a husband and wife are separated-and the husband lives in a home bought during a marriage (with both names on the deed)and the wife is living at her mother's house-the wife is threatening to go to the home while the husband is at work and taking all of the furniture and items in the house. Can the husband legally change the locks on the house without notifying the wife to protect the belongings until an agreement is made?

yes, if it is an emergency, but be aware the wife will scream. She has a right to use it also. I would wait until an agreement is signed giving you sole possession. Take photos of the house property you are concerned about. Good luck.

Yes, the Husband can change the locks. However, there is nothing to prevent the wife from breaking a window to get in...it's her property too.
