Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Juvenile background check

Is a juvenile record considered in a Florida Adoption? My husband has a juvenile record and we want to adopt the child that was placed in our home as an emergency placement from DCF. Will his old record effect the adoption? The parents have surrendered their rights.

I cannot honestly say. I have handled several adoptions and the issue of a juvenile record was never mentioned one way or the other. I can tell you that as a matter of rule, a juvenile record is immediately sealed after a case is finalized.
