Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My lawyer wont return my calls!?
I have been working with my current attorney for about 3 weeks, the only time he has returned my call was to find out about the case. Seems like I'm just getting the run around, can he do this?

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
Yes, he can. Apparently this is exactly what is happening. It is a horrible practice not to return client calls by any attorney and the Florida Bar frowns on this. You should either call or write the attorney's office and let him know of your dismay and ask to schedule an appointment to sit down and address your concerns and any questions you may have. If you are not comfortable with the attorney, then it is time to fire this one and find another.

This is the no. 1 complaint about attorneys. Unless there is actual malpractice (e.g., a missed deadline), there isn't much you can do except fire him and try again with someone else who might be even worse. Attorneys are very, very busy. If you have an urgent question, try asking by email. Alternatively, you can try making a phone appointment with him at a time that is convenient to both of you.
